A Mastermind group is typically for entrepreneurs—not always—but typically for entrepreneurs. I currently run a Mastermind group for new business owners or struggling solopreneurs who are working from home and feel isolated. Once a week we jump on a Zoom call for about an hour, sometimes it goes an hour, 15 minutes, and we do several different things. There are also a few clips below to show you what a group is actually like.
In each group, I always like to have a piece of gratitude and then a win you had for the week. I want everything to start on a positive note. I don’t want a “life sucks, business sucks, and I don’t have any clients” kind of group. I get it. Life is hard, business is even harder, but what I want to do is start out with positivity and always start the group with what I call a one-minute-win. What happened in the last week that was a win, or if you haven’t been there for a month, no problem, what happened in the last month? You can always find one win. I don’t care if it’s personal, I don’t care if it’s a business, it doesn’t matter what it is. Maybe you filed for bankruptcy and your business is failing and 10 clients quit but your daughter turned five years old and you guys had an awesome birthday party, I don’t care, we want to get started off on a positive note.
Another thing we talk about is our 30-day challenge. Each month, everyone challenges themselves with goals or trying to form a habit, maybe even drop a habit. Everyone sets a goal for themselves each and every month. Typically, it’s the meeting at the beginning of the month so you can accomplish something within 30 days. At the beginning of the group we just ask if you’re on or off-track. This way, we each have an accountability piece. So we’ve got the gratitude piece, we’ve got the accountability piece. There are usually 8 to 12 people per session in each Mastermind meeting. Each person gets one or two minutes for about the first 20 minutes. It’s such a bonding experience when this happens. After the one-minute-win and 30-day challenge, wel jump into either a round table discussion about books or big struggles in business right now. We’ll talk about what’s happening with COVID, how we can pivot, and how we can capitalize on a down economy.
Next, during round table discussions, I like to ask questions like, “Why did you start your business?” and ‘Why do you want to be an entrepreneur?” or “Why do you want to put yourself through this?” I know this is not all puppy dogs and ice cream to be an entrepreneur. Sorry to break it to you. I know it’s cool right now to be an entrepreneur, it’s cool to start your own business and work from home but it’s not easy. These are great questions to ask during a round table discussion.
Other times we’ll get into hot seats. A hot seat is when one person gets in the “hot seat” who’s having a really pressing issue. During the hot seat, they share their problem or issue and everybody brainstorms with them for 30 minutes. Usually, the Mastermind comes up with some amazing solutions. Imagine what happens when you stack ideas from 10 different people. It’s AMAZING!
We also have workshops and educational seminars. We’ll bring somebody in who talks about how to run Google ads, how to market Facebook stories, how to use YouTube to get more clients, all types of things. People have specialties they’re really good at and they can share with the group. One we’ve had in the past was as simple as how to start a morning routine. It doesn’t have to be high-level to be informative and effective.
The meetings I run are very structured. I want to make sure there’s an agenda so everyone knows what they’re going to get at least a week in advance. I also like to make sure to give everybody an opportunity to talk at least once or more within each meeting, making each group value packed. This is the key to a true, successful, and impactful Mastermind.

If you like what you see and you’re a good fit, you can join. Our Mastermind groups are also budget friendly because we’re working with new business owners and solopreneurs. This is my passion project and I want to make this very affordable. I have my marketing agency as my business, but Mastermind is my passion project. You can also jump on our Facebook page and watch actual meetings. I respect privacy and can’t show you details, but the links will give you a good idea and how it actually works.
