Because I’ve facilitated live and online groups, I’ve figured out quite a bit when it comes to Mastermind groups. One of the biggest questions people ask me is, “How often do Mastermind groups meet?” This answer depends on what level of Mastermind group is best for you.
The group I’m in right now is a virtual, english speaking, online Mastermind group for anyone across the nation. Basically, this group is geared towards new business owners or struggling solopreneurs working from home and are stuck. That’s who I cater to. That’s who I like to help. That’s my passion and what my Mastermind group is all about.
If you’re a new business owner or really struggling in business, then you need to be a part of a weekly Mastermind group. Our group meets every single week for at least an hour to an hour and a half, depending on the energy of the group. There are also other groups that meet every other week and monthly. What I’ve found is if you’re a high-level business owner, you just don’t have time to meet every week. If this is the case, a monthly Mastermind (LINK), the Entrepreneur Organization (EO LINK), or Vistage (LINK) might be your best fit. However, these groups are not cheap and can range from $3,000 to possibly $10,000 a year. These groups are for high-level executives and could be for you, depending on your issues and capabilities.
My passion however is for new business owners and struggling solopreneurs, the rookies! If you’re just getting started or if you just have a part-time business, you could be you’re trying to get out of your 9 to 5 job to finally begin what your’re passionate about so you can replace that job. If this describes you, join a weekly Mastermind group.
The third type – and one I don’t see as an actual Mastermind – is the big marketing conferences with a 3 to 4 day line-up of motivational speakers and a few break-out sessions. These marketing companies and big business gurus use the word Mastermind in place of a high-paid conference. They have big budgets and you pay 10 grand, go out to Miami, and meet with a bunch of people for three or four days. They’re calling these conferences “Mastermind groups”, and in a way, they’re kind of Mastermind-ish.
“A true Mastermind group is where you meet with the same people on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, basis; building deep friendships, accountability, and trust.”
Once you get into a weekly flow of a Mastermind, you’ll wonder how you went so long without one.
Something to keep in mind however is a Mastermind group isn’t all about making more money – it’s a byproduct. Our Mastermind helps business owners overcome their struggles using the group’s collective resources and experiences. Oftentimes, problems are solved using techniques they would have never considered. These solutions are based on real-world experience from real entrepreneurs and reality, not an idea someone is trying to sell. The point is to pick a group that works based on your schedule and time. Our Mastermind meets every week. We also have some people who show up every other week and sometimes only once a month. Last year, a member somebody that took off two months to travel, highlighting a hard-earned success! Now they’re back and welcomed with open arms.
