Recently, I’ve been on the internet interacting with people and talking about Mastermind groups. We discuss the benefits and the breakthroughs we’ve all seen and how awesome the groups are. I always get the question, “How do I form a Mastermind group?” Now, this is best explained using my story and afterwards, I’ll give you a couple of tips on how to form your own group. You’re also invited to check out one of our groups, like a call to action you can do right away if you really are serious about forming a Mastermind group.
I started my Mastermind group soon after my divorce mainly because most of the friends went with my ex-wife. At this point in my life, I wanted to make some friends locally in Missoula, Montana and needed to meet with other business owners. Business owners are the people I like to hang out with, the people I like to talk to. I ended up going to a few networking groups and asked people if they were interested in a Mastermind group. At one point, I just took a piece of paper and a pencil and announced if anybody wanted to sign up for a new Mastermind group. I had them give me their name and email just to see what would happen. I sent an email later that day with the date and location. I had no idea what I was doing for my first Mastermind group, but I had 12 people show up! It was unorganized, no structure, and it was a MESS…but, it was fun. Regardless of how messy it was, people kept coming back every single week. Every single week they’d come back and it started growing and growing and growing. And I realized there’s really something to this Mastermind concept.
To form the online Zoom group I’m inviting you to is by reaching out to my digital network. My Facebook friends, Linkedin connections, and people I knew across the country. If you don’t have a lot of connections online, it’s really not too hard. Just start talking to people. Start by saying, “Okay, what’s your struggle? Would you ever be interested in joining a Mastermind group? I’m starting one February 15th. If you’re interested give me your email, blah, blah, blah”. Trust me, it works! You can also pay for digital marketing, but why spend the money when all you need to do is get out there and be a real human being. Just talk to people. People are interested because Mastermind is becoming a buzzword and forming a group is not hard right now.
You can also charge a monthly fee, we do for our Mastermind group, but it’s a very low entry. I know there are big Mastermind groups that cost $10,000 to $50,000 a year. Ours is only several hundred dollars a year because I want to work with new business owners, struggling solopreneurs. That’s just who I like to work with because that’s who I used to be. And I want to help people get out of that scarcity mindset.
Overall, the best way I’ve found to form a Mastermind group is to first join a Mastermind group and see what it’s like, see how to facilitate it. Come and join our Mastermind group if you want to see what it’s really like, and then take notes and go form your own. I fully support any of our members to go and form their own group.
